Baseball Bat Chopsticks All The Rage in Japan

In Japan, baseball is king. Ever since pitcher Hideo Nomo became the first Japanese player to sign with a U.S. baseball club, the sport’s popularity has continued to increase.

If you happen to attend a baseball game in Japan you might hear the fans yell “Kattobase!” – a term meaning “Make a big hit”.

Some innovative manufacturers decided they would seize upon the popularity of baseball and developed a special brand of chopsticks called “Kattobashi”.

The Kattobashi brand chopsticks are made from recycled baseball bats, mostly coming from the splintered pieces of bats that are broken during games throughout the season.

Kattobashi brand chopsticks can be found throughout Japan in restaurants and various specialty stores.
