Video: Phils Manager Charlie Manuel Gets Tossed Vs Reds

I was watching the Phillies-Reds game last night with a friend of mine and we had a good laugh when umpire CB Bucknor tossed Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel for arguing balls and strikes.

After Manuel was ejected he got his money’s worth, coming out of the dugout and laying into Bucknor for a good minute.

Bucknor never uttered a word while Manuel voiced his displeasure, although at the very end of the confrontation he made a gesture with his hand indicating Manuel touched his head with the brim of his cap.

After closer Brad Lidge had blown a three-run Phillies lead in the ninth, Manuel was clearly on edge. After his ejection, Philadelphia scored three runs in the 10th to earn a 9-6 win.

At the post game press conference, Manuel was asked about the ejection.

“I said quite a bit to CB,” Manuel said. “I was screaming at him because he kept saying, ‘That ball’s not low.’ The ball was low. He called some bad ones all night.”
