TMZ.com is reporting that sources have told them the NCAA is “taking an aggressive look” into the possibility that former and current University of Kentucky basketball players were involved with sports agents.
The sources told TMZ that the NCAA is interested in two current Wildcats’ players and two players who were recently selected in the 2010 NBA Draft.
The source claims the NCAA is particularly interested in one former Kentucky player who was drafted.
An investigator is looking into the relationship that player had with his current agent, specifically regarding meetings he had with the agent allegedly dating back to the player’s senior year in high school.
TMZ contacted the University of Kentucky seeking a comment, but obviously the school declined. An unnamed representative for the NCAA told TMZ that “The NCAA does not comment on current, pending or potential investigations.”
Speculating only, the NCAA could be interested in William Wesley, otherwise known as Worldwide Wes, a personal friend of Kentucky coach John Calipari.
Wesley is also a close friend of sports agent Leon Rose, who just happens to represent LeBron James, the most sought NBA free agent available.
