Actress Lindsay Lohan can now be officially classified as a jail bird after being sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation.
Judge Marsha Revel showed little patience as she issued the ruling during a probation hearing revolving around a missed court date in May.
Lohan was in France for the Cannes Film Festival and claimed she lost her passport, thus making travel back to the U.S. impossible to attend court.
Following that hearing Judge Revel ordered Lohan to wear a SCRAM bracelet, an alcohol monitoring device, which was intended to keep the actress from breaking the terms of her probation.
Lohan has been wearing the SCRAM bracelet since May 20, but on June 6 the device began flashing when she attended Katy Perry’s MTV Movie Awards party.
Lohan denied drinking but prosecutors had hoped to use the device as evidence that Lohan had violated a court order to not drink as part of her probation.
Judge Revel said she would not consider whether Lohan was actually drinking but would make her decision based only on if Lohan failed to complete the required number of alcohol education courses.
Lohan will need to turn herself in on July 20. She will then be required to enter a rehab program after she is released from jail.
