University of Memphis basketball player Will Barton may be ineligible to play this season, due to concerns about his academic background.
Barton was one of the nation’s most highly touted hoops prospects this past season and is one of the gems of Tigers’ coach Josh Pastner’s recruiting class.
The only way Barton can become eligible is by making an appeal to the NCAA. Numerous reports indicated late Wednesday that any appeal would be a long shot.
Barton addressed his academic woes via his Twitter account Wednesday evening:
“It don’t get no worse than this. The hardest thing I ever had 2 face is here. Need vision cuz everything blurry now. Where do I go from here?”
How about the classroom you apparently avoided during high school.
For someone who’s academic background is being called into question, one need look no further than the Twitter post to know that Barton’s intellectual abilities are less than sterling.
Perhaps Barton should have consulted former Tigers’ player Derrick Rose and former coach John Calipari about getting around those silly academic issues the NCAA requires.
