I’m Thinking About Formally Announcing My Possible Retirement

With the media frenzy surrounding the possible retirement of Brett Favre – potentially for the third time – I figured I could pull the same stunt.

Therefore, I’m announcing today that I’m giving thought about possibly retiring from the blogosphere.

As most of you know, I was injured in 2007 as a result of stroking my keyboard furiously. Despite the intense pain, I’ve continued to blog with the injured left wrist but it’s reached a point where surgery is mandatory.

I’ve preliminarily selected Dr. Hadip Njur Mohaamd, an orthopedic surgeon in Jakarta, to perform the procedure.

Dr. Mohaamd informs me that the recovery time for a surgery of this nature could take between four and six months, or it could heal within three months, or it might take somewhere between two and five months, depending on factors that are somewhat beyond my control.

Since I’m humble and would never bring any unnecessary attention upon myself, I feel it would be a detriment to my loyal readers if I attempted to return before my wrist was completely healed.

Although I’ve yet to arrive at a firm decision when I’ll have the surgery, one could be forthcoming in the next several weeks but I’m not entirely sure at this point.

The key to my possible retirement is the health of my left wrist. As you might guess, trying to stroke a keyboard with only your right hand is nearly impossible.

To assist me in determining if I might retire, I’m going to free my mind of mental roadblocks by sequestering myself on a small ranch where the buffaloes roam and the deer and the antelopes play.

The serene environment could possibly afford me an opportunity to make a final decision on whether I should retire again, or if I should continue making the blogosphere my personal playground.

But as I’ve stated with almost absolute certainty, I’m not positive at this juncture if watching buffaloes roam will inspire me enough to make what I’m hopeful will be a possible decision.

In an effort to help clear up any speculation regarding my intent to retire, I’m going to send a text message to several of my friends alerting them to the possibility of my potential retirement.

And to avoid any gray areas that my possible retirement may create, I’m not going to publicly confirm or deny any actual retirement plans, but I may possibly decide to revise that idea if circumstances should call for it.

Being that I’m the type of person that hates a lot of media attention, I want to state here and now that I am very sincere about potentially giving thought to my possible retirement.

I am aware that my decision could affect hundreds, if not thousands who count on me to provide them with senseless material during the offseason and into the start of training camp.

I know how critical an announcement of this magnitude can be, so please know that I may arrive at my possible decision to possibly retire at a date and time that has yet to be determined.

However, if I do decide to make a possible announcement regarding my possible retirement, I will negotiate a plan with ESPN to air the possible announcement in a one-hour nationally televised special titled “The Possible Decision”.

I’m hopeful this announcement about the possible forthcoming announcement regarding my possible retirement for the third time clears up any confusion that may have been created.
