In what may become the most entertaining war of words in history, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly and Jennifer Aniston are taking turns bashing the other for comments the actress made about artificial insemination.
During Tuesday’s O’Reilly Factor he lashed out at Aniston, calling the actress “destructive to our society” in response to comments she made while promoting her new film “The Switch”.
Aniston said, “Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle, they don’t have to fiddle with a man to have that child. They are realizing if it’s that time in their life and they want this part, they can do it with or without that.”
O’Reilly devoted a segment of his show discussing Aniston’s comments saying, “She’s throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that hey, you don’t need a guy, you don’t need a dad. That’s destructive to our society.”
O’Reilly went on to argue that remarks like Aniston’s are hurtful to fathers, saying, “She’s diminishing the role of the dad.”
O’Reilly offered Aniston a chance to appear on his show and clear up her statement. “If she wants to explain it, she can get her butt right in here!,” he said.
Instead of making an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor”, Aniston responded to the criticism on Thursday during an interview with People.
“Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth,” Aniston said.
“And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.”
That retort would have been really awesome if she actually came up with it on her own, but we all know she didn’t.
This has all the makings of a romantic comedy that only someone like me – or Hollywood – could dream up.
