A U.S. Naval Aviator is ticked off he was given the call sign “Romo’s Bitch” after it was discovered he was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Ensign Steve Crowston claims he was called into a room with fellow officers to be given his call sign.
His name, along with other aviators, had been written on a white board with a list of suggestions that included “Gay Boy” and “Cowgirl”.
Ensign Crowston was upset that he wasn’t given a call sign like “Maverick”, Tom Cruise’s character in the film Top Gun.
Ensign Crowston, attached to Strike Fighter Squadron 136 at Naval Air Station, Oceana, Virginia, filed a complaint with senior officers.
The Navy initially found his allegations of sexual harassment unsubstantiated but the investigation has since been re-opened.
