Maggie Gyllenhaal is preparing to set Hollywood buzzing with a racy role, signing on to star in a film about the invention of the vibrator.
Gyllenhaal will play the daughter of a doctor in Victorian England, who created the sex toy to treat hysteria, which will be the title of the risque movie.
Hysteria will also feature Jonathan Pryce and Hugh Dancy, who will play the inventors of the vibrator, and Rupert Everett will also be part of the cast.
Gyllenhaal says, “I play a firecracker whose father is a doctor who is in the business of curing hysterical women. He cures them basically by getting them off and that actually happened.
I end up having a sort of unexpected love affair with this guy who works for him, and who by mistake invents the vibrator.”
Hysteria is scheduled for a 2011 release.
