There could be a federal holiday in the works to celebrate Jack Daniels whiskey if the makers of the distilled beverage have anything to say about it.
The Tennessee distillery is campaigning to make Jack Daniel’s birthday a national holiday. Jack Daniels would be 160 years old in September, and the employees of the distillery are not treating this as a joke.
“We are not”, said Jennifer Powell, U.S. brands manager for Jack Daniels products. “We certainly realize there are plenty of serious things going on in the country, but we do want to have a little fun with this campaign.”
A Facebook campaign has already collected 2000 signatures supporting “Jack Daniel’s Day”.
According to organizers, a campaign bus will leave Lynchburg, Tennessee in the middle of September, stop in Nashville and a couple of other cities, and end up in Washington, D.C. at the end of the month.
That’s when organizers will deliver the petition to the members of the Tennessee delegation of congress.
