Outside of Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t get a lot of attention from the sports media when talking about the NFL’s best quarterbacks.
ESPN’s Bill Simmons and John Clayton ranked their top quarterbacks in the league, with Simmons rating Rodgers as the fourth best while Clayton ranked the Packers QB as sixth best.
Clayton rated Peyton Manning as the NFL’s best, followed by Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Brett ‘I Can’t Make Up My Mind’ Favre.
But Simmons expressed his love for Rodgers when he wrote about a party the Green Bay signal caller attended during the NFC Championship.
Simmons said, “my affection for Rodgers increased exponentially at ESPN’s Sundance party during the conference championships, when Rodgers and his buddies unabashedly rooted against nemesis (Brett) Favre and the Vikings down the stretch and celebrated raucously when New Orleans pulled it out.
Rodgers couldn’t have been more delighted; he did everything but climb on the bar and start a “F— YOU, FAVRE!” chant. I will always root for him after that.”
Being a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, I’m obligated to hate the Packers. But like Simmons, Aaron Rodgers has earned some man love from me because of dislike for Favre.
