TV By The Numbers reported that the Washington Redskins 13-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys was the most watched Sunday Night Football game ever.
The NFL’s opening weekend produced strong television ratings across the board, including the Saints-Vikings game last Thursday which had better ratings than the Cowboys-Redskins.
In fact, the seven most highly rated programs airing during the week that ended September 12 were all NFL related.
The combined ratings of Thursday’s kickoff and the Sunday night game were the highest since 2002.
ESPN’s Monday Night Football doubleheader also drew strong TV ratings.
The Jets-Ravens game had a 10.9 while the Chargers-Chiefs game drew an 8.8, both representing the strongest viewership since ESPN acquired the Monday Night Football franchise.
