SEC teams answered some questions this week as Arkansas won a tough road game against Georgia and Auburn held on to beat a good Clemson team.
Ryan Mallet completed 21 of 33 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns, including a 40-yard score to Greg Childs with 15 seconds left in the game to give Arkansas a 31-24 win over Georgia.
Vanderbilt forced three Ole Miss turnovers, including a 21-yard interception return from Eddie Foster to help the Commodores to a 28-14 road win over the Rebels.
Top ranked Alabama had no trouble with Duke in Mark Ingram’s first game since having knee surgery. The Heisman Trophy winner rushed for 151 yards on nine carried to lift the Crimson Tide to a 62-13 win over the Blue Devils.
With the scored tied at 10 in the 3rd quarter, Florida coach Urban Meyer called for a fake punt on fourth-and-6 from the Gators 39. Omarius Hines ran 36 yards to keep the drive alive, and six plays later John Brantley connected with Frankie Hammond on a 7-yard touchdown pass, helping the Gators to a 31-17 win over Tennessee.
Auburn overcame a 17-0 deficit and a missed field goal by Clemson kicker Chandler Catanzaro in overtime to help the War Eagles to a 27-24 win over the Tigers.
Derrick Locke rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns to lead Kentucky to an easy 47-10 win over Akron. The Wildcats’ Mike Hartline completed 21 of 29 passes for 250 yards and two TD’s.
LSU forced five Mississippi State turnovers to help the Tigers get a 29-7 win over the Bulldogs. Stevan Ridley and Jordan Jefferson combined for 215 total yards to lead LSU.
Marcus Lattimore rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown and Stephen Garcia threw for two more scores as South Carolina defeated Furman 38-19.
