Sunday Night Football Goes For Guinness World Record

NBC Sports will attempt to capture a new Guinness World Record for the world’s largest Halloween party during Sunday Night Football in New Orleans.

“Halloween night in New Orleans was too rich to pass up,” said Fred Gaudelli, Sunday Night Football producer. “I think America has never seen anything quite like this, and we intend to take full advantage of it.”

An official Guinness World Records Adjudicator will attend the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints to validate the gathering as the world’s largest Halloween party, defined as a group of people in costume in one place.

NBC will dedicate a special “costume cam” to capture shots in the stands of fans dressed in their Halloween costumes.

The current record is 508, which was set last year in Bloomington, Indiana. The chances of the record being broken is a lock, but the chances of the Saints winning the game aren’t anywhere near as good.

The defending Super Bowl champions are 4-3 and need a win over the 5-1 Steelers to avoid falling farther behind Atlanta and Tampa Bay.
