Aria Giovanni, nee Cindy Renee Volk, a former Penthouse Pet of the Month and one of the most popular nude models of all time, celebrates her 33rd birthday today.
Giovanni was born in Los Angeles and was reportedly shy, nerdish, a tomboy and an animal lover. She never had a date in high school but she was a very good student.
She had to spend some time in rehab but got her act together and eventually got her education, putting it to good use as a tutor in chemistry, biology and math subjects.
In 1999, Giovanni was trying to make ends meet so she decided to give modeling a go. Since she was gifted with naturally large breasts, Giovanni modeled for several amateur sites including Amateur Pink, Busty Amateurs and Seductive Amateurs.
The following year Giovanni met model Aimee Sweet who introduced her to Suze Randall. Not realizing it at the time, meeting Randall would turn out to be her big break because she was a photographer for several magazines, including Penthouse.
After photographing Giovanni, Randall submitted the photos to Penthouse and the rest they say is history. Penthouse featured her on the cover of the September 2000 issue and she would later be named a Pet of the Month.
In 2001, Aria played the role of Monica Snatch in the film Survivors Exposed, a satire of the television series Survivor. That year, she was also seen in an episode of the dating show Shipmates.
Aria has appeared in many Andrew Blake films. These soft porn films include Girlfriends, Aria, Blondes & Brunettes, Justine, Adriana and Naked Diva.
In 2008, Giovanni appeared in the first episode of James Gunn’s short-form web video series, PG Porn, playing a role opposite Nathan Fillion.
When interviewed about the episode, she said that a kiss with Fillion was the first on-screen kiss she’d ever shared with a man.
Suffice it to say, Giovanni has come a long way since her days as a shy book nerd. She can be found on dozens of sites and her photos have appeared in magazines world wide.
