LeBron James is having a problem with getting his message across. The self-absorbed one claims he understands what Randy Moss meant regarding his refusal to answer questions from the media.
James said that his comments following a November 11 loss to the Boston Celtics were taken out of context, which led to him issuing a clarification on Sunday.
After playing 44 minutes against the Celtics, James said that was “too much” and said the same thing about team mate Dwyane Wade, who played 40 minutes in the overtime loss to Boston.
James intimated that the amount of minutes both played led to fatigue late in the game, thus causing the Heat to lose.
James’ assertion that playing too many minutes cost Miami a chance to win the game doesn’t exactly hold up for those of us who live in the real world.
The fact is James played three more minutes than the Celtics Ray Allen, who is nine years older than the decision maker.
Moreover, Miami used 11 players in the overtime game while Boston only used nine. The Heat’s starters averaged considerably fewer minutes than Boston’s starters, a team comprised mostly of veteran players.
In other words, James’ suggestion that he and Wade played too many minutes is bovine feces. And there’s nothing about his post game comments that can be taken out of context.
So on Sunday, James held a special press conference and issued “The Clarification”, a rambling, Moss-like explanation why everything he says is blown out of proportion.
Since James now has an-depth understanding of what Moss meant, he’s leaning towards asking himself questions in the third person, then answering them in the first person.
I wonder if he’ll criticize his responses or take anything he says out of context. Knowing the King, I wouldn’t put anything past him.
James doesn’t realize it but the book on him is wide open, every chapter and every word exposed for all to see. There’s nowhere he can seek cover following his trip down ego lane this past summer.
Everyone knows where he’s coming from now and there’s nothing he says that can be misconstrued. If James wants to keep his mouth shut for the rest of the season, that’s okay with me.
Better yet, that’s the preferred way he should operate this season. He’d do us all a favor by remaining silent so we wouldn’t have to be subjected to his increasing narcissism.

Amen
