Jessica Simpson is going to get married to former New Orleans Saints linebacker Eric Johnson after reports confirmed the two are now engaged.
This was six days after Simpson’s ex-husband Nick Lachey announced plans to wed Vanessa Minnillo.
Simpson’s representative told People.com, “Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!”
Simpson and Johnson began dating in May when he was estranged from his first wife Keri Johnson; their divorce was finalized last month.
Simpson told People that, “This is just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive. (I) couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now.”
That’s another way of saying “Eric is prepared to put up with a high maintenance ding bat like me.”
Simpson of course had a previous relationship with Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, but he ended it last year after reportedly growing tired of her drinking.
Romo even banned Simpson from passing through the gate to his home, posting a sign telling her to stay away.
