With only a few weeks left in the college football season there are a number of teams still in need of wins in order to become bowl eligible.
Among the 11 BCS conferences, only the Big 12, Big Ten, MAC and WAC have enough bowl eligible teams to meet each conference’s bowl tie-ins.
The Sun Belt Conference has two bowl tie-ins, but none of its teams are currently bowl eligible. The Mountain West has six bowl tie-ins, but only four of its members are bowl eligible and BYU is the only team with a chance to win the required number of six games.
The SEC and Conference USA are each one team short of having the number of bowl eligible teams to meet their bowl tie-ins. The Big East, ACC and Pac-10 are all currently well short of having the number of eligible teams to meet their conference’s bowl tie-ins.
As for the Independents, Navy and Army have both won at least six games while Notre Dame needs one more victory to become bowl eligible.
You can see each conference’s bowl tie-ins here and the 2010-2011 college football bowl game schedule here.
