If Auburn defeats South Carolina in the SEC championship on Saturday, all indications suggest the All-State Sugar Bowl will invite Arkansas to play Ohio State.
Ah, the Buckeyes. Kings of the Big Ten. The team that can’t beat an SEC opponent when it matters most.
Ohio State hasn’t beaten an SEC team in more than 20 years, back when Ronald Reagan was serving the last few days of his second term as president of the U.S.
Since 1970, Ohio State is 1-10-1 against the SEC with their lone victory coming against LSU in 1988.
The Buckeyes had opportunities to win the BCS national championship in 2007 and 2008, when they faced Florida and LSU respectively.
In those two games, Ohio State got their lunch handed to them in overwhelming fashion. The Gators beat the Buckeyes 41-14 in a game that was over before the end of the first quarter.
The following year, LSU thumped Ohio State 38-24 to claim the SEC’s second straight BCS national championship and fourth overall.
The SEC has won four straight BCS titles and six total, the most of any conference in college football.
The scenario will be somewhat similar if the Buckeyes end up in New Orleans against the Razorbacks, although the national championship won’t be on the line.
Ohio State is 11-1 with their only loss coming against Wisconsin on the road.
Many believe the Buckeyes have the superior team and should beat the Hogs, but history has proven it’s not wise to pick Ohio State when they line up against an SEC team.
But let’s give the Buckeyes credit. Despite all the humiliation and embarrassment, they keep coming back for more.
One beat down after another, THE Ohio State is a proud, tradition rich program that will be eager to have an opportunity to defeat an SEC team.
The Buckeyes will travel to the Big Easy where their fans will cheer when some lucky band member gets to dot the “I” and they’ll cheer even louder when their team takes the field.
But soon thereafter reality sets in and the cheering stops.
Arkansas, like every other good team in the SEC, will utilize their superior skill players and overall team speed to lay another licking on the boys from Columbus.
Before it’s over, the Arkansas fans will be calling the Hogs and Ohio State’s never ending nightmare will continue.
The Buckeyes will hear the Razorbacks fight song so many times they’ll be able to hum the tune in classes for a month.
Even more haunting will be the constant chants of S-E-C, S-E-C as the Buckeyes walk off the field with yet another loss to the mightiest of the mighty.
Yep, we’re all hoping for an Auburn win on Saturday because that means another loss for Ohio State, the SEC’s favorite bitch.

Yea, OSU is 0-9 vs the SEC in bowl games. That’s one of the most amazing stats in the world of sports — along with tennessee’s 26 straight wins against KY.
Anyway, let’s hope they go 0-10. I do think OSU will be fired up to get that monkey off their back. certainly their fans will be.
