What a Sham: FWAA Leave Cam Newton Off All-America Team

The Football Writers Association of America didn’t place Auburn quarterback Cam Newton on its All-America team, rendering the association utterly clueless.

For an organization to openly shun their objectivity and keep the best player in college football this season off the All-America team is asinine.

The FWAA replaced Newton as the All-America first-team quarterback with Boise State’s Kellen Moore.

This isn’t an indictment of Moore, a solid player who enjoyed a tremendous season. But for the FWAA to have us believe they inserted Moore because he’s a better player than Newton is absurd.

This is clearly a case where the FWAA had an agenda against Newton.

As I wrote last week, Heisman voter Todd Helmick left Newton off his ballot because he didn’t like the way the Auburn QB addressed the allegations surrounding his father’s involvement in a pay for play scheme.

Just as Helmick was guilty of allowing his person feelings about Newton effect his Heisman vote, the FWAA did exactly the same thing by leaving him off the All-America team.

If those tasked to cast votes for the Heisman and All-America team lack the objectivity needed to reward those players who are deserving of recognition, then perhaps it’s time they had their voting privileges revoked.

Cam Newton is the first team All-America quarterback, and any idiot member of the “professional” media that doesn’t think so can kiss my ass.
