$4.8 Billion Buys a Lot Of NFL Coverage

ESPN and the NFL announced a new television deal on Thursday that will keep Monday Night Football on the Worldwide Leader through the 2022-2023 season.

While exact numbers aren’t known, it’s widely believed ESPN will pay between $1.8 and $1.9 billion per season for the rights to MNF.

The amount ESPN pays the NFL for broadcast rights is nearly triple what the other networks pay each year.

Fox Sports pays the NFL $720 million, CBS Sports pays $620 million and NBC Sports pays $603 million annually for their broadcast rights.

DirecTV pays the league nearly $1 billion annually for their rights to the Sunday NFL Ticket package.

In total, the NFL receives roughly $4.8 billion from their television partners every year for the the right to broadcast their games.

If there was any doubt how viable the NFL is, then these figures would erase any questions.
