Charles Haley Among 2011 Finalists For NFL Hall Of Fame

The 15 finalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced on Sunday, with former 49ers and Cowboys defensive end Charles Haley among those selected.

Haley is the only player in NFL history to win five Super Bowls, winning two with the 49ers and three with the Cowboys throughout the 1990′s.

Running backs Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis and Marshall Faulk and cornerback Deion Sanders were also among the 15 finalists for the class of 2011.

Martin, Bettis and Faulk are among the NFL’s top 10 leading rushers, and are eligible for the first time, as is Sanders and offensive tackle Willie Roaf.

The other finalists announced on Sunday are receivers Tim Brown, Andre Reed and Cris Carter, offensive lineman Dermontti Dawson, defensive linemen Richard Dent, Cortez Kennedy and Chris Doleman, and tight end Shannon Sharpe, along with NFL filmmaker Ed Sabol.

The 15 finalists, plus senior nominees Chris Hanburger and Les Richter will be considered for induction before Super Bowl XLV.
