Dennis Miller Likes The Steelers And Packers, Takes Swipe At Rex Ryan

Dennis Miller appears on The O’Reilly Factor every Wednesday to give his thoughts on a variety of hot topics and this week one of the subjects was the NFL playoffs.

Miller at one time was an analyst on Monday Night Football and O’Reilly is a fan of the NFL so football is a subject that’s often discussed.

This past Wednesday O’Reilly asked Miller which teams he liked in this week’s conference championship games.

O’Reilly: “All right. NFL predictions for Sunday? You’ve got the Jets vs. the Steelers. Should be a good game. And the Packers vs. the Bears.”

Miller: “Well, listen, I don’t trust the Jets kicker, that Nick Folk guy. He looks shaky to me. And you think Rex would have an eye for a good foot.

But that could be trouble for them. But I’m telling you, Revis and Cromartie are the craziest cover corners I’ve seen since Deion and whoever played on the other side of Deion Sanders.

And if they’re going to shut these guys down, if you see Roethlisberger back there for eight to 10 seconds, you’ll know they’ve just clamped down.

There’s a chance the Jets win that game. But I’ve got to go with the Steelers because I’m a Pittsburgh boy.

On the other side of the games, Phil Simms told me he thought Aaron Rodgers’ game might have been the best quarterback game he’s ever seen.

Mike Ditka said he thinks it’s the greatest individual performance he’s seen in the last 50 years. I’ve got to go with my man Aaron Rodgers.”

I happen to agree with Miller that the Steelers and Packers will advance to the Super Bowl. I also happen to think Rex Ryan would actually be better served if the Jets don’t advance.

Can you imagine the media firestorm that will take place if the Jets make it to the Super Bowl?

The two-week build up to the game and the need to fill space in the sports pages or on web sites will be spent talking about Ryan and his wife Michelle.

If the Steelers win on Sunday, Ryan will be forgotten until next August and he’ll have a chance to put this situation behind him.

As for the Packers, if Aaron Rodgers plays anywhere near as well as he’s played thus far, the Bears are going to have a tough time beating Green Bay.
