Nick Saban Leaving Alabama To Coach Tennessee Titans?

My friends at Losers With Socks posted an article yesterday citing sources within the Titans organization that Nick Saban has spoken to the team about their coaching vacancy.

It seems odd that Saban would even consider taking another coaching job given that Alabama has stockpiled a lot of talented players and could end up with the best recruiting class in the country this year.

The Crimson Tide will be legitimate contenders for the BCS national championship next season while the Titans will be in serious rebuilding mode.

Saban has undergone reclamation projects at Michigan State, LSU and with the Miami Dolphins, but the Titans are a mess right now.

With NFL head coaching jobs available every year, if Saban wanted to return to pro football he could do so under much better circumstances.

Nevertheless, Saban has shown a propensity to change jobs frequently and perhaps he’s getting the itch to move away from the ghettos of Tuscaloosa.

I doubt Saban would take the Titans job even if they offered him what is being reported as a $9 million per year salary. Yes, that’s a lot of dough but there’s also a lot of headaches.

If the Crimson Tide win the BCS title next year, then I could see Saban moving on to the NFL. But not now, and certainly not with the Tennessee Titans.
