If the photo above is any indication, perhaps Walt Anderson isn’t the best choice for the Pittsburgh Steelers when he was named the Super Bowl XLV referee.
As we can see, Anderson is giving Ben Roethlisberger a mild stiff arm while getting an earful from the Steelers quarterback.
Obviously, a moment within one game throughout an NFL season or any number of games throughout a career doesn’t necessarily mean much in the big scheme of things.
Every player in the NFL has had words with an official at some point, but when the referee for the Super Bowl is a guy you clearly had harsh words for in the past, maybe this is an omen for Pittsburgh.
It will be interesting to see if the Steelers get flagged for more penalties during the game, especially if there are questionable calls that go against Pittsburgh.
