Fergie will be the first woman to appear on a Super Bowl halftime stage since Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction, and says she’ll keep it clean.
The Black Eyed Peas star will hit the stage during Super Bowl XLV with her bandmates, Usher and Slash – and she doesn’t want a repeat of the fall-out following Jackson’s controversial wardrobe malfunction, when co-performer Justin Timberlake ripped open the singer’s top to reveal a pastie covered breast.
Fergie says, “We wanna keep it clean fun. A little bit of sexual appeal is fine, just nothing that’s inappropriate… I’ve worn some pretty revealing costumes and things in videos, but it’ll be no good at the Super Bowl, fun for the whole family.”
Adding even more star power to Super Bowl XLV, Usher and Slash will join the Black Eyed Peas during the game’s halftime show.
Slash will also kick things off with the singing of the National Anthem. Rounding out the slate of performers is Lea Michele, who will sing America the Beautiful.
