The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office confirmed they’ll charge Lindsay Lohan with one count of felony grand theft on suspicion of stealing a $2,500 necklace.
The owner of a Venice, California store has accused Lohan of stealing the “one of a kind necklace” in January, but Lohan maintains the jewelry item was loaned to her. An associate of Lohan returned the necklace to police prior to her home being subjected to a search.
Lohan is currently on supervised probation and could land back in jail for six months if the judge overseeing her case rules she violated her probation by taking the necklace.
Perhaps it’s possible Lindsay Lohan prefers the solitude of prison life, or maybe she misses the camaraderie of her fellow inmates.
Whatever the reasons, Lohan can’t seem to keep herself out of jail long enough to be thought of as anything more than a common criminal.
The fact is, she’s a petty thief and a repeat offender, and the only way to deal with people like that is stop enabling them.
I feel sorry for Lohan but mostly I’m disappointed because she’s wasting her talent, and yes, she does have talent.
Unfortunately for Lohan, the talents she’s exhibited the most over the past five years are an incredible lack of self-awareness, self-loathing, self-pity and a stunning detachment from reality.
I honestly don’t think sending Lohan back to jail is the answer to her problems. Her prior stints in jail and rehab haven’t produced the desired results, so it’s a safe bet having Lohan spend more time in jail won’t resolve her issues.
The only way Lohan is going to get her act together is to isolate her from public view.
If every web site, print publication and television network decided to ban Lohan’s name and likeness from being used for six months, I guarantee you she’d quickly figure out how the world really works for common thieves.
It’s a harsh way to help her, but that’s what needs to be done. It won’t happen though because too many people are willing to use Lohan to gain ratings, page views and revenue at the expense of taxpayers who fund the prison she’ll be housed in.
Lindsay Lohan is no longer a true Hollywood story, she’s just a sad, pathetic story that most people are growing tired of hearing. And I fear it’s a story that will have an even sadder ending.
