Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has canceled his scheduled appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show for personal reasons.
Vick was set to sit down with Winfrey on February 22 to discuss his 18-month prison sentence following a dog fighting conviction and how he’s transformed himself since returning to the NFL.
A statement from Vick reads, “After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview scheduled for February 22. I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future.”
Winfrey bet CNN’s Piers Morgan that she would land the first in-depth interview with Vick when she appeared as Morgan’s first guest on his show.
Morgan’s chances of getting an interview with Vick were essentially non-existent, but Winfrey has to eat a little crow for the time being.
Look for Vick to sit down with Winfrey at some point in the future.
