Listening to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade trying to explain how Miami blew a 24-point lead to the Orlando Magic put the Heat’s season in perspective.
For all the Kool-Aid drinkers who actually believe James is one of the best players in the NBA, it’s probably hard for them to fathom how a guy with so much talent continues to choke in key situations.
Clearly, it’s not for a lack of talent that causes Miami to lose games in such spectacular fashion. The Heat would be a good team without James, in fact, they might actually be better.
Wade’s heart has never been an issue. Chris Bosch is a pretty hard nosed guy who plays with passion too. But James’ heart and passion is another matter entirely.
The real issues facing the Heat aren’t about team chemistry or learning how to execute in key situations. It’s all about James being a narcissist and his inability to cope with pressure.
King James has been coddled his entire life and doesn’t know how to deal with tough situations. Have you ever noticed how defensive he gets whenever someone criticizes him?
The fact is, James doesn’t want the ball with the game on the line because he doesn’t want the pressure. He doesn’t want to be placed under the microscope if he fails to make the game winning shot.
It’s because of his unwillingness to be held accountable that James has never won an NBA championship, and that will ultimately be the reason why the Miami Heat won’t win the NBA championship this season.
James will continue receiving preferential treatment from plenty of people in the media who believe he’s something special.
LeBron James isn’t special because he doesn’t want to do the heavy lifting. He doesn’t want the responsibility because that would be too hard, and King James isn’t the kind of guy that wants to get his hands dirty.
Until he can put a team on his back and take them to a title, James will be another good player in the NBA that never won a championship.
And no matter how much Kool-Aid gets consumed, nothing is going to change that.
