ESPN’s Marc Stein released his latest NBA power rankings on Monday and the Memphis Grizzlies moved up to the eighth spot in his latest rankings.
The Grizzlies (36-29) are in the midst of their most difficult stretch of the season, playing some of the NBA’s best teams and doing so without injured forward Rudy Gay.
For the week of February 28 through March 6, Memphis defeated the San Antonio Spurs, lost a game against New Orleans, but rebounded nicely with a come from behind win on the road against Dallas.
On Monday, the Grizzlies beat Oklahoma City 107-101, their third victory in four games against the Thunder this season. Memphis had all five starters score in double figures as they maintained a two-game lead over Phoenix for the Western Conference’s eighth playoff spot.
Topping Stein’s power rankings this week are the Los Angeles Lakers, who are 7-0 since the All-Star break. Following the Lakers are the Chicago Bulls, who defeated the Miami Heat on Sunday for crying out loud.
The San Antonio Spurs are third in the latest power rankings, followed by the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.
