If you saw Shigeo Tokuda walking down the street you’d probably view him as any other senior citizen, but little would you know he’s a prominent porn star.
At 5’3″ and 140 pounds, the 76-year-old Tokuda has been working in the Japanese porn industry for nearly 15 years. He was working in the travel promotion industry and became fascinated with order-in room porn movies.
After tracking down one of the producers of a film in hopes of getting a senior discount for DVDs, the two became friendly and offered Tokuda, then, 59, a role in a film.
Tokuda would soon discover he was a natural in the industry. For the next nine years he kept his porn career under wraps, but in 2005 he decided to quit his job at the travel agency and began making porn films full time.
He kept his porn career secret from his wife and daughter too, even after he decided to make it a full time job. But in 2006 his daughter saw a fax that had come in at his home about an upcoming scene he was going to shoot.
Tokuda says his daughter wasn’t very happy and his wife complained that he was getting too old for that kind of work. Despite the objections of his wife and daughter, Tokuda continues to work in porn.
He makes about $500 per day acting in staged “retirement homes” while performing with female porn stars that are young enough to be his granddaughter.
Tokuda is credited in more than 350 films and boasts a brand name in Japan. He’s become a household name and is considered to be a respected public figure. He says that since his porn career took off, it’s not uncommon for men to follow him to the restroom to ask for his autograph.
