The Memphis Grizzlies can wrap up their first playoff berth since the 2005-06 season with a victory against the Sacramento Kings Friday night.
Memphis is currently three-and-a-half games ahead of the Houston Rockets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NBA’s Western Conference.
With only four games left in the regular season, the Grizzlies can sew up a playoff berth by defeating the Kings.
Memphis has a chance to finish as high as the sixth seed in the Western Conference, but they must play better than they did on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Grizzlies suffered an embarrassing loss when they blew a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter and lost to the Clippers 82-81.
Memphis has shown a bad habit of taking weaker teams lightly, just as they did against the Clippers.
The Grizzlies can’t afford to take anyone lightly at this point, and knowing what’s at stake it’s a safe bet that coach Lionel Hollins will have the team ready to play hard against Sacramento.
Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. tonight at the FedEx Forum.
