ESPN NBA Analysts Didn’t Believe Grizzlies Could Beat Spurs

Not one of the 12 NBA analysts working for ESPN picked the Memphis Grizzlies to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in their first round matchup.

All 12 of ESPN’s NBA gurus picked San Antonio to win the series in five or six games, and that includes Chris Sheridan, the only analyst that picked the Grizzlies to make this year’s playoffs.

I can appreciate how all 12 of them didn’t see this coming because outside of those who follow the Grizzlies, the only person who said Memphis would win this series is TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley.

I’ll give credit to Barkley for recognizing the matchup problems Memphis created for the Spurs, because it seems the dudes at ESPN didn’t recognize anything.

I suspect the 12 ESPN NBA analysts thought Memphis would be happy just making the playoffs and the Spurs would roll over them, but with a 3-1 series lead the Grizzlies are making the experts look pretty foolish.

Everyone’s entitled to a bad day, even the Worldwide Leader’s 12 NBA analysts, but not all 12 of them on the same day.

Game 5 of the Western Conference first round playoff series between the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. central time tonight at the AT&T Center. The game will be televised locally on SportSouth and can also be seen on NBA TV.
