I mentioned in the Osama Bin Laden post from yesterday that I was watching the Phillies-Mets game on ESPN when Dan Shulman made the announcement that the world’s most wanted terrorist had been killed.
In Monday’s USA Today, Shulman describes the events that led to his announcement, a span of time that amounted to about 30 seconds.
The article mentions Shulman’s announcement being similar to the Monday Night Football game on December 8, 1980 when Howard Cosell announced the murder of John Lennon.
Unlike Cosell’s announcement that took an hour or more to filter through the news organizations, Bin Laden’s death originated from the social network site Twitter.
