Poor Jim Tressel. After lying about Buckeyes’ players selling merchandise and withholding information from school officials, Ohio State’s football coach will finally be made to pay the piper.
As part of Tressel’s punishment for not revealing his knowledge of NCAA violations, he’ll be forced to attend a five-day compliance seminar in Tampa, FL at an NCAA-sponsored event June 6-10 at a resort hotel.
And in case you were wondering, it’s not a joke. Tressel will actually receive a punishment that includes a five-day stay in modest luxury.
This news comes on the heels of more potential rules violations that surfaced on Saturday. The Columbus Post Dispatch reported that Ohio State’s director of NCAA compliance is reviewing the sale of at least 50 cars to Buckeyes’ athletes.
Maybe every school that violates NCAA rules should be forced to attend a five-day compliance seminar in exotic locations, complete with free booze and strippers.
That will teach them a lesson.
Tressel better enjoy this trip to Tampa because I’m willing to bet the farm it will be the last NCAA compliance seminar he attends for a long time.
