SEC Sends Three Teams to 2011 College World Series

Defending champion South Carolina will join fellow SEC members Florida and Vanderbilt at the 2011 College World Series which begins June 18 in Omaha.

The Gamecocks and Gators are the only two teams that will make return visits to Omaha while the Commodores will make their first appearance at the College World Series.

The ACC will send two teams to Omaha, with top-ranked Virginia and third-seeded North Carolina each returning to the CWS since they last appeared in 2009.

Big 12 Conference rivals Texas and Texas A&M are among the field in Omaha, with the Longhorns making their 34th appearance at the CWS.

Pac 10 member California will make their 6th appearance in Omaha and their first since 1992. The Golden Bears made an unlikely run to the CWS after receiving an at-large berth into the tournament.

The 2011 College World Series will be played at TD Ameritrade Park, the first time since 1950 that the CWS has been played at a park other than Rosenblatt Stadium.

It will be the 65th College World Series overall, and the 62nd to be held in Omaha.
