Man High on Bath Salts Attempts Surgery on Himself

Police in Cookeville, Tennessee say a man believed to be high on bath salts attempted to perform surgery on himself on June 12.

Officer Michael Herrick responded to the call at the unidentified location. According to the police report, the unidentified man believed something was in his leg.

The man was taken to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center emergency room and is now in Intensive Care.

Bath salts have been outlawed in the state of Tennessee, but police say they can be obtained from bordering states.

Cookeville police say another case involving bath salts have resulted in a man running naked into an emergency room believing that snakes were biting him.

Bath salts contain a chemical composition similar to methamphetamine and many states across the country are outlawing their sale.
