Police in Nashville have charged Shelley Anne David for attempting to extort $5,000 from Tennessee Titans wide receiver Damian Williams.
Officers said in a news release that the 22-year-old David was taken into custody Monday afternoon in a parking lot after meeting with Williams and getting a $5,000 check from him.
Police said David demanded the money to agree not to appear in court to testify against Williams about a domestic assault complaint she had made.
As a result of David’s extortion attempt, prosecutors said they have dropped the assault warrant against Williams.
