Former Dallas Cowboys player personnel director Gil Brandt said retired quarterback Brett Favre could make a return this season during a chat on NFL.com.
Brandt said in the chat that he could see Favre returning to the NFL under limited circumstances.
“I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning. But I don’t see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter,” said Brandt.
Favre, who officially retired for the fifth or sixth time at the end of last season, had a terrible year on and off the field.
The 41-year-old is the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. He played in 13 games last season, throwing 11 touchdowns and 19 interceptions while battling injuries.
He also had to deal with allegations that he sent pictures of his penis to former New York Jets hostess Jenn Sterger and was accused of harassing two Jets’ massage therapists.
Brandt was merely offering his opinion, but the likelihood of Favre making yet another return to the NFL is virtually zero.
Not to mention, playing would be only half the battle for Favre. A return to the field also means that his alleged off-the-field activities would be front and center in the news again, something he clearly doesn’t want to deal with.
Personally, America has had enough of Favre’s Prima dona act over the past five years to last us all a lifetime. And to make matters worse, we have to deal with the ridiculous verdict in the Casey Anthony trail.
I think it’s time we all got a little piece and quiet.
