The justice system in Bangladesh is pretty harsh, especially if you kidnap an underage girl and force her to marry you.
Police said they were investigating the case of a 30-year-old man who received a punishment from the local village council that forced him to tie a brick around his penis and parade around town.
The man was found guilty of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl and then forcibly married her so he could “legally” have sexual relations with the minor.
According to reports, the young girl escaped her captor and told the village council about her ordeal. After the village elders heard her story, the man was picked up and then beaten before he was made to wear the brick around his penis.
Police sub-inspector Binoy Krishna Kar said that the man was made to walk around the village with at least 200 people witnessing the event.
Village courts are legal in Bangladesh but only empowered to settle disputes related to land ownership, inheritance and other minor issues. They are prohibited from handing down physical punishment.
Obviously, no one in this particular village was too worried about what punishment they could legally mete out.
And the man who kidnapped the girl will probably be known as “brick dick” around the village for the rest of his days.
