Alina Kabaeva is Russia’s most celebrated rhythmic gymnast, winning a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
At one time she was also rumored to be Russian president Vladimir Putin’s mistress, although as you would well imagine, Kabaeva and Putin denied the claims.
In fact, there were rumors that the two would wed in 2008, but again they shot down the story.
Judging by her flexibility, it’s obvious why Putin would be keen to make Kabaeva’s acquaintance.
Let’s not kid ourselves here; Putin saw Kabaeva contorting her body in those rhythmic gymnastic routines and his mind wandered to all the possibilities, if you know what I mean.
I don’t blame Putin one bit either. What man wouldn’t want to have a gymnast as a wife, girlfriend or mistress?
Since retiring after the 2004 Olympics, Kabaeva has begun a new career in politics. Since 2007, she has been a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party.
It makes you wonder how someone who denied any involvement with Putin would end up in politics, doesn’t it?
But let’s forget politics and focus on the important stuff, like Kabaeva doing her Olympics routine or posing for the Russian version of FHM.
