Doctor Dawn Kamin who operates Affordable Eye Care in Germantown, TN, was told to remove an American flag she posted outside her optometry office.
According to a letter sent to Dr. Kamin, the flag pole and the flag violated the bylaws of the business condominium group managed by Tesco Properties.
The letter stated that Dr. Kamin had to remove the flag by August 22 or Tesco Properties would remove it and she would be required to cover the costs.
Doctor Kamin told Fox News Radio that she was flying the flag to honor the military.
“I have family in the military and we have really become aware of our freedoms and what our soldiers do for us,” she said. “It’s not tacky. It’s just out of respect for our military and the wonderful country that we have the privilege of living in.”
Officials with Tesco Properties told Fox News Radio they would not comment on specific issues related to the flag controversy.
However, a spokesperson for Tesco responding to an e-mail from Fox New Radio wrote that “Placing additional flags in common areas in order to bring greater attention to a particular business is inappropriate.”
Doctor Kamin has asked to see the business condominium’s bylaws, but she said so far Tesco Properties has not complied.
The controversy has created quite a stir, with many coming out to support Dr. Kamin. The Affordable Eye Care Facebook page is receiving comments from people around the country who believe Tesco Properties is acting foolishly.
If you’d like to send Tesco Properties an e-mail and let them know how you feel, you can contact them at tesco@tescoproperties.com or you can try reaching them via voice at 901-759-1855.
I’m sure Tesco will be glad to hear from you.
