The Nude Blacks, a men’s rugby team in New Zealand that plays every game naked, has lost for the time in nine years after being beaten by a women’s team from Spain.
But the loss wasn’t because The Nude Blacks got outplayed. According to one of the team members, the visiting ladies from Spain reportedly said that they’d remove an item of clothing each time they scored.
The visiting women’s team, called The Conquistadores, won the match 25-20. One of The Nude Blacks members admitted that the visiting ladies may have scored a few easy ones with the hope of having them strip off their clothes.
The Nude Blacks, named after New Zealand’s elite rugby team the All Blacks, “started as a joke” says the team’s founder.
“Students are known to run across the streets naked in winter, so we decided to go further by playing rugby in the nude.”
The Nude Blacks played their first match in 2002 and they’ve become so popular that the team plays before every international match in Dunedin.
