News of the weird this week features a Florida man getting gassed and shooting his own lawn mower, and a former sheriff getting booked into the jail named after him.
Mark Thomas Wach of Palm City, Florida was arrested on November 20 after having one hell of a day.
Wach got drunk, shot his lawn mower, fought with his adult son, got tasered three times by police and couldn’t understand why he got arrested.
Wach told the arresting deputy that he “shoots in the yard all the time and that fighting is what redneck people do.”
Former Sheriff Booked Into Jail Named After Him
Former Arapahoe County (Colorado) Sheriff Patrick Sullivan was arrested following a sting operation in which caught the former sheriff exchanging methamphetamine for sex.
Agents of the drug task force set up a sting using two confidential informants who said they had engaged in sex acts with Sullivan in the past in exchange for methamphetamine.
After several phone calls and text messages, Sullivan agreed to meet one of the men at an Aurora home and bring meth to exchange for sex.
Officers set up audio and video surveillance at the house and Sullivan arrived and was seen to hand suspected meth to the informant.
Sullivan is being held in the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility, the jail named after him. He was sheriff from 1984 until his retirement in 2002.
