2011 Heisman Trophy Finalists Statistics

Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, Montee Ball and Tyrann Mathieu are the five college football players chosen as 2011 Heisman Trophy finalists.

All of these players have had outstanding seasons. What sets each apart is debatable, but all of them are deserving of the invitation to the Downtown Athletic Club in New York for Saturday’s Heisman Trophy presentation.

Stanford’s Luck has led the Cardinal to two straight BCS bowls and is widely considered to be a top five NFL draft pick.

Baylor’s Robert Griffin III is currently the odds on favorite to win this year’s Heisman. The Bears’ quarterback is perhaps the most complete player in college football and he’s one of the game’s most exciting players.

Alabama’s Trent Richardson uses a combination of strength and speed to make the Crimson Tide’s offense click. He’s one of the primary reasons Alabama will play for the BCS national championship.

Wisconsin’s Montee Ball is one touchdown away from breaking Barry Sanders’ career record for most TD’s in a single season. Ball led the NCAA in rushing this season and has scored a total of 38 touchdowns in helping the Badgers to their second straight Rose Bowl appearance.

And finally there’s the Honey Badger, LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu. The Tigers’ defensive back is college football’s best playmaker and he’s been at the heart of LSU’s drive toward a BCS national title.
