Hefner Orders Early Release of Lindsay Lohan Playboy Issue

Because of people like me, Hugh Hefner has ordered the early release of the Lindsay Lohan Playboy issue after the photos were leaked online.

Lohan, who banked $1 million for the nude spread, had planned to give fans a sneak peek of the Marilyn Monroe-inspired images during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday.

But the January/February 2012 issue featuring Lohan on the cover was published on December 7 and the complete set of images were available online last Friday.

MoonDog Sports posted a few of the non-nude images from Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy shoot on Friday, but several sites posted the full spread.

Hefner brushed off the early unveiling, insisting the Lohan issue “is going to be a true Collector’s Edition”, but now he’s taking action to try and combat the potential loss in sales by rush-releasing the January/February 2012 edition of Playboy.

In a post on Twitter, Hefner wrote, “Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we’re releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early.”

Hefner had to know that this was a possibility. You’d think he would have had a contingency plan in place for this likelihood.

He had to know that Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy spread was going to be a hot item, but obviously he wasn’t prepared to deal with the situation.

That is one of the reasons why Playboy has seen its stock prices and market value plummet over the past five years.

Hefner and Playboy Enterprises didn’t adapt to the Internet and its ability to provide immediate access to everything, especially nude photos of Lindsay Lohan.
