Al Sharpton is reportedly close to repaying nearly $107,000 owed to the Peabody Hotel in Memphis according to a report in the New York Post.
Sharpton incurred the debt to the Peabody in 2008 when the National Action Network left town without paying their bill following the organization’s annual convention.
The Post obtained records showing that Sharpton received nearly $242,000 from the National Action Network even though the nonprofit organization is $1.6 million in debt.
Sharpton also received extras on top his salary, including first-class or charter air travel.
The report also says Sharpton owes the IRS $2.6 million in income tax and nearly $900,000 in state tax.
Sharpton has more debts listed within the report, yet he draws a hefty salary and the organizations he’s aligned with are millions of dollars in debt.
